ELEMENTS EXPERIENCE
21st SEPTEMBER 2019
Bring all the family and experience the Glen Nevis riverbank walk like never before.
Planned for 25th September 2022, the Elements Experience will take place along the all-abilities path from Ben Nevis Visitor Centre to the Youth Hostel. Bring all the family and immerse yourself in a unique experience within Glen Nevis. |
Over the last 200 years, the population of Glen Nevis declined along with its tree cover and biodiversity. Our connection with the nature of the glen diminished along with our communal stewardship of it. We are left with the ghosts of human and natural heritage in the landscape.
In this time of climate change and consumerism we need to reverse this trend to secure the future of our children.
Nevis Landscape Partnership has a strategy to reconnect people with the place they live, to enable the community to take part in its stewardship.
NEVIS LANDSCAPE PARTNERSHIP 100 YEAR VISION
The Nevis landscape will be a place of contrasts; not only wild land, but also a land inhabited by those who work, live and visit the area. It will bring together both the local community and visitors whose passion for this beautiful landscape will create an interdependent relationship between the landscape and people that is thoughtful, sustainable and stable.
The Nevis landscape will be a mosaic of habitats complete with established native woodland. It will be a biodiverse area brimming with life; Ben Nevis and Glen Nevis will be iconic not only for the highest peak in Britain, but more importantly, for a healthy wild ecosystem, connected to neighbouring landscapes via wildlife corridors, and capable of mitigating the negative effects of climate change.
By collectively caring for our landscape, we will have learned to reduce our impact on nature and in the process secure not only the future of area but also our own health and wellbeing.
Donations can be made at the event to The Nevis Fund.
